The Sinti and Roma in Beregovo live about 5 km from the European external border in a slum-like settlement called tabor. The tabor is surrounded by a wall. An nearby company built it to look after by-passers not to see the inhabitants of the tabor. The settlement has existed since the 1960s when the USSR banned the wandering life and wanted to make all traveling Sinti and Roma sedentary. Only a few of the houses are massively built, there is a lack of water, electricity and a functioning sewage system. Medical care, a job or a place at school are difficult for the Sinti and Roma to get. What is missing the most is social tolerance.
